Bikur Cholim of Cleveland is dedicated to serving all members of the Jewish community by providing assistance to those experiencing health-related challenges. It helps young and old by offering comfort, shelter, and support through a variety of services including a visitation and kosher hot meal program as well as educational and recreational activities. The Mt. Sinai Health Foundation has supported Bikur Cholim and its various programs as part of its earliest grantmaking activities, making an initial grant in 1997.
The Hillel Summer Internship Program (SIP) provides a 10-week, 5-workday internship to Jewish undergraduates with Cleveland roots. SIP places these talented college students in a range of challenging paid internships in a wide variety of industries, offers them networking opportunities, educates and excites them about the Cleveland area, and strengthens their ties with the Jewish Community. Since 2009, a grant from Mt. Sinai has supported the placement of students in non-profit health and human service internships.
Mt. Sinai supports efforts that improve the physical and mental health of the Jewish Community, its founding constituency. The Foundation and the Jewish Federation of Cleveland often collaborate to achieve this objective. Mt. Sinai is among the largest donors to the Federation's annual Campaign for Jewish Needs, where Mt. Sinai grant funds are used for health-related services.
